PETA - Legislative Protection for Animals

Hi Animal Lovers,

Please spare few minutes of yours and email Mr Jairam Ramesh, Minister of Environment and Forests of India for protection of animals.

Kindly read on,

As you may know, there are currently several draft animal welfare rules being considered by the Ministry of Environment and Forests. These laws would give animals basic protection from the worst abuses. Please take a moment to send an urgent letter to the ministry in favour of stronger animal protection legislation today!

The following laws are being considered:

Proposed Ban on Trade in Peacock Feathers
Draft Aquarium and Fish Breeding and Marketing Rules 2010
Draft Dog Breeding Rules 2010

Even though these proposed legislative improvements for animal welfare are minimal and basic, those who profit from the trade in animals or animal parts are fighting against them. That's why it's vital for caring people like you to send the ministry your letters in favour of the proposed improvements to animal welfare legislation as soon as possible.

Please write to Mr Jairam Ramesh, Minister of Environment and Forests of India at jairam@sansad.nic.in and mosef@nic.in asking the ministry to pass stricter rules to protect animals. Sending letters in your own words is always best, but below is suggested text in case you wish to use it for your letter.

Suggested Text:

Dear Minister:

I am writing to relay my support for stronger legislation to protect peacocks as well as legislation to protect animals in the pet trade.

The protection to animals proposed via the proposed ban on trade in peacock feathers, draft Aquarium and Fish Breeding and Marketing Rules 2010, and Draft Dog Breeding Rules 2010 are basic and minimal and the least we can do to help protect the animals currently suffering because either they or their body parts are being sold.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
